  • It will be helpful to have the following documents available when filling out this application. During this application you will have the opportunity to upload the eligibility documents required to determine eligibility for Public PreK programs only. If you are applying for a Head Start or Childcare program, do not upload any documentation for this process. A Head Start or Child Care Center director will contact you for documentation.

    Those applying for Public Pre-K will need to submit the following documentation during the application process:

    • One of the following for Income Documentation for each adult in household:
      • 2 Consecutive Pay Statements from each adult listed on the application (the dates on the pay statements must be within  2 months prior to filling out the application.
      • SNAP Benefit Letter with ‘Certified Through Date’ and child’s name
      • Current Foster Care Placement Papers from DCFS
      • Homeless Form (McKinney Vento Form)
      • ‘No Income Form’ for all non-working adults in the home
      • Declaration of Income for Irregular Employment (intermittently employed or self-employed if don’t have pay statements)
      • Letter from Social Security Administration verifying that the child listed on the application is a recipient of SSI benefits.
    • Copy of Child’s Birth certificate (person filling out application must be listed on the birth certificate or you will need to provide Court Custodial Papers)
    • Proof of Residence (Must submit 2 of the following with physical address and name)
      • Utility Bill (Current Electric, gas, or water bill with parent/gaurdian name and physical address)
      • Rental Agreement or Mortgage Statement
      • Drivers License or State Issued ID
      • Note: Cell Phone Bills or other mail are not acceptable forms of Proof Residence

    ALL required documentation MUST be received at the Grant Parish School Board Office:

  • This application is for Grant Parish Public Pre-K, Early Head Start/Head Start, and Child Care Centers in Grant Early Childhood Network. Kindergarten must apply at the school.

    NOTICE:  This is for Early Head Start/Head Start, Child Care Centers or Pre-K in Grant Early Childhood Network. Please note the following ages for each program.

    1. For Early Head Start your child must between 6 weeks and 2 years of age.
    2. For public Pre-K, your child must be 4 years of age by September 30, 2025. (DOB should fall between the dates of October 1, 2020 – September 30, 2021.)
    3. For Head Start, your child must be at least 3 years of age and not more than 4 years of age by September 30, 2025.
    4. For Child Care Centers, your child must be between 6 weeks of age and 4 years of age.

  • Please rank the programs below in order of preference. Your child is only eligible for public Pre-K at the school he/she is zoned for. Student must be tested and meet requirements of grant that supports the Pre-K program

  • Optional file upload:  Grant Parish School Board (GPSB) is offering the convenience of document file upload for pre-Kindergarten registration.  GPSB will treat your personal information as confidential and will handle it in accordance with data protection legislation.  If you do not wish to upload your documents, please deliver copies of them to the Grant Parish School Board office at 512 Main Street, Colfax, LA.

  • Thank you for your submission! Our Early Childhood team will contact you if we have any questions or need additional documents.

    • Public Pre-K: Grant Parish Schools will process your application after all required documents are received. In early May, you'll receive a screening appointment from your child's zoned school. Screening is required for eligibility. In July, you'll receive a letter regarding placement (eligible or waitlist).
    • Head Start/Early Head Start/Childcare: Your application will be forwarded to the appropriate program for eligibility determination. Contact those programs or Grant Early Childhood Network for questions about their timelines (see our website for contact information).
